Business Builders Get Confused

Enrolling MLM Home Business Builders is a Journey and Not a Destination

We are all changing and growing and coming up against external and internal barriers.

With every desire and goal, we encounter doubts about whether or not it will work and if we should go forward. Just think about how many things that you wanted to pursue but abandoned, because it seemed “too hard” or too big of a stretch.

It’s only natural that your new and longer-term business builders will travel through these decisions, and points of uncertainty. They experience the same doubts, fears and limited thinking that you do and your business builders are likely to drop out if they don’t learn how to overcome them.

Most network marketing companies and MLM programs don’t address what to do about wavering business builders. The typical mantra is to give them more information. If the business builders don’t respond, then move on.

But just think if you applied that thinking to your kids, your husband or partner? What would the results be?

After the initial “honeymoon” period with the products and the meetings, prospective business builders start encountering roadblocks. In addition to the everyday roadblocks at work and home, this “added” stress can feel daunting. Worse, this isn’t the first time your business builders have come up against this push-pull phenomenon. They really want success, but something is holding them back.

The Barriers Business Builders Face Can Trigger Old “Failure” Patterns

Are your business builders having a hard time signing up clients? While this experience feels like old hat to you, because you’ve been at this for a while, it taps into their doubts and fears that lurk in the shadows.

What happens is that current failures (to sign up new clients and build quickly) trigger old failure feelings and concerns. Once that happens, internal voices sound an alarm that this “opportunity” could be another losing proposition. That’s how previously “motivated” business builders become ambivalent about taking further action.

This is a normal stage in any change process. We always come up against our inner “dragons (fears and doubts).” Regardless of whether we faced them in another circumstance and found our way through, each new adventure brings a new dragon tale to the table.

If you tell your business builders what to do or give them more information, you would be missing the forest for the trees. Read my story below where you’ll see you’ll discover how easy it is to give information instead of support.

In my post on Fast Track Your MLM Home Business, I highlighted that instead of trying to go out and find new business builders, that it pays to go back to the basics with them.

The Secret to Your Success Lies In Helping Your Business Builders Overcome Their Barriers

Why? If you don’t learn to support and navigate this process with these business builders, history will repeat itself with the next person.

You’re struggle reminds me so much of how I used to hope for the best when I hired new therapists, coaches and supervisors. I would hire “the best” and set them loose, because I was swamped with management duties. What I found is that many of them couldn’t go without support, because they had blind spots they couldn’t get past without an outside perspective, but I just didn’t “have the time” to provide it.

In my early years as a manager I was full of energy and was quick to move onto another “best candidate” (after one would move on) and the cycle would repeat itself over again. Faced with few highly qualified candidates, I had some serious decisions to make.

Finally, in a meditation I was given the gift of awareness. I realized that the staff and supervisors I managed needed the same kind of approach I used to empower and uplift clients. I put my fast-paced “driver personality” on notice that we would be cultivating a new way of working with staff.

I already saw the financial and time costs associated with staff turnover, but when I realized that I was short-changing them of becoming better professionals under my watch, I felt compelled to change my tune. I cultivated a coaching presence that blended emotional support with real-world action steps. It turns out that when you motivate people from within, it beats the crap out of pushing, pulling or trying to drag them to the finish line.

My staff got to work through their “stuff” as part of their staff development process. The hurdles they overcame helped them deliver excellent services and they reported that this “development” helped them be better parents, partners and employees. All of the success I’ve ever experienced was due to helping my clients and staff transform their challenges into gifts.

It’s the same with your business builders. Think about it.

How often do you feel disappointed when you lose someone you had high hopes for? You can’t save all of your business builders, but what if you could save 50% of them? What might that do for your business growth?

What might that do for you as a person? What might that do for their lives?

When someone believes in you enough to spend time developing you, they’re often the people you would follow to the ends of the earth. Business success and commitment are a two way street. If you want more commitment from business builders, start by committing to their success first.
